The dub writers didn't take too much advantage of the sillyness as they don't seem to find anything clever for Iris to say, which is quite sad, as their writing were improving lately, but it annoy me too much, but compared to Bianca, Cilan and Balck, she just wasn't silly enough. With the changes to Bianca's personality, it makes me wonder what the writers have in mind with Cheren whenever he shows up.

But, I guess the writers wanted the episode to have more tension. I think that the episode explaining how she got Axew and that she's suppose to make it evolve made it clear that she wouldn't want to do something like pulling an all nighter until Axew gets Dragon Rage under control like Ash often did with his older Pokemon teams.
